Vanessa Handley, director of Collections and Research at the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens will discuss the Collections Policy at UC Berkeley Bot Garden which mandates that accessions are wild-collected (with provenance data). Vanessa will discuss the rationale for this policy and the inherent challenges/opportunities it presents – plus give some nuts and bolts on how the garden acquires new material.
