with Martin Grantham

For the past year, Martin Grantham has been working at UCSC Arboretum as Nursery Manager, renewing the South African and Australian collections, learning a lot, including the odd pollination biology in Lachenaultia, hybridization and seed production in Leucospermum, and the rooting and growing requirements across all the collections. He will share some of the lessons learned, and a goodly number of impressive plants that light up this public garden over a calendar year.
Recently holding a position at San Francisco State and with many years at the UC Berkeley Botanic Garden, Martin has extensive training in botany that has informed his practice of experimental and ornamental horticulture. He is a total plant nerd with expertise in hard-to-propagate plants.
