Our first Coffee in the Garden event for 2023. Saxon and his wife, Mary, have three acres of Oak-Madrone woodland in Marin County. Only the lower acre, upon which sits the house, is gardened—in a “very naturalistic, but not entirely native” style. Their efforts include letting the Oaks dictate what and where to plant for summer-dry gardening and a new rain garden. The weather was clear, breezy and a bit chilly but the daffodils and other Narcissi cultivars, and tulips gave off a warm sunny glow.
