Cal Hort member Daisy Mah open her garden to us and recruited some friends who graciously agreed to share their fabulous gardens as well. In addition we compiled a list of places to visit independently afterwards. The tour showed off the wide variety of plants and landscape styles available to gardeners in this region.

We started the day at Daisy’s home in the lovely tree-lined historical Midtown neighborhood. Daisy’s backyard is a trove of many plants both decorative and functional. She has squeezed a lot into her space and every year she propagates hundreds of seedling perennials for the Perennials Plant Society’s sales. A few blocks away a friend has invited us to see her extensive vegetable garden.

The next garden was on the grounds of a formal English cottage home in the Land Park neighborhood a few miles south. The owner dealt in antiques and has a formal, romantic, colorful flower garden with a large fountain to reflect times gone by.

The third stop was at a mid-century-style home highlighted with art, interesting containers, and succulents. The owners love to entertain neighbors, friends and family in this eclectic and inspirational garden.
